Description

Do you want to make a difference for our youngest students and help more of them reach their goals? We are looking for a dedicated special teacher for Kronopark School who wants to be part of developing our work with early interventions and improving students' achievement in Swedish as a second language and Swedish – focusing on reading and writing skills.

Kronopark School (https://karlstad.se/forskola-skola-och-utbildning/grundskola/grundskolor/kronoparksskolan) is a primary school. Here, students from preschool class to grade 3 attend. The school has about 360 students and has been awarded the title School for Sustainable Development by the Swedish National Agency for Education.

Responsibilities

Your role includes identifying, analyzing, and monitoring students' needs for special support, where you use your pedagogical insight and problem-solving analysis skills to design effective interventions at the individual, group, and organizational levels. You work proactively and preventively, with a quality-conscious and systematic approach based on research and proven experience.

Teaching occurs both individually and in smaller groups, where your relationship-building approach contributes to safety, motivation, and progression among students. You follow students' development from preschool class and upwards and ensure that the right support is provided at the right time, which requires a holistic view, careful monitoring, and good collaboration.

An important part of the role is to contribute to clear and secure transitions between stages, where you collaborate with teaching staff and student health to create continuity in students' learning. Through guidance and collegial learning, you support educators in developing their teaching and strengthen the school's overall competence.

You are a collaborative and development-driven special teacher who sees opportunities, takes initiative, and actively contributes to the school's long-term quality and development work.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed teacher with a special education degree, focused on the early years of primary school (F–3), preferably with an emphasis on reading and writing development.

It is meritorious if you have experience with special educational interventions in the early years of primary school, have worked with evidence-based methods for reading and writing development, and have experience leading pedagogical development work and implementing competency-enhancing initiatives. Experience working with transitions between preschool class and grade 1, focusing on continuity and progression, is also meritorious, as well as a particularly strong ability to create and maintain trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues.

To succeed in the role, you have good knowledge of reading and writing development and an understanding of the importance of early, preventive, and promoting interventions. You work systematically with mapping, analysis, and monitoring of students' progression and use the results to plan and adapt pedagogical interventions in a quality-conscious manner. You possess pedagogical insight and problem-solving analysis skills, enabling you to identify needs at an early stage and ensure the right support is provided at the right time.

Furthermore, you have digital competence and experience using digital tools in teaching, mapping, and documentation. You have good collaboration skills and communicative competence that allow you to professionally and sensitively guide and support colleagues. Your relationship-building and professional approach contribute to secure collaborations and good relationships throughout the school's operations.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability and are looking for someone who is development-oriented, quality-conscious, and collaborative, with a clear student focus.
